Yuukianura aphoruroides - Spanish Red/Orange Springtails

Red/Orange Springtails are small, bioactive insects that make excellent feeders for reptiles and amphibians particularly baby frogs. They also feed on fungus and mold in terrarium's. The Bilobella springtails come in orange to red coloring and add another interesting inhabitant to your enclosure. 
    Unlike white springtails which we normally keep on charcoal, the orange springtails we keep in a sealed container with ABG or similar soil. We sterilize( bake the soil before hand to ensure no pests) the ABG soils first and add leaf litter. They don’t eat yeast but prefer wet vegetables in particular apple once a week along with carrot. Mist but don’t wet soil as they can utilize soil that is soggy. We keep at room temp it up to 70- 77F . 

    With over 60% protein, they provide a nutritious meal for your pets and act as a cleaning crew. A must-have for any terrarium or vivarium setup. 

Note that bioactive enclosure work best with a species of springtail and isopods as they have different jobs in your enclosure. .
